Legal Contract Manager  

The successful applicant will work with the Cisco Services Contract Management Team to provide contracts and commercial compliance support to the Cisco Services Sales and Delivery organisations covering the APAC, Greater China and Japan Theatres. The role includes reviewing, editing and approving non-standard Statement of Work (SOW) for services deals/offerings within the boundaries of Cisco’s commercial policies and operations guidelines. Overall responsibility of the role will be to work closely with the Service Delivery Teams, Sales Teams, Finance Teams, Legal Teams, Corporate Revenue and Commercial Finance Teams to provide contract and commercial assurance with respect to SOW-based services to be provided to customers.


Through strong leadership, business partnering, communication and influencing skills the candidate will be able to build trust and confidence within the business.


Specific areas of focus include:


  • Review, edit and approval of non-standard Service Statements of Work (SOWs) for Customers
  • Review, edit and approval of non-standard Service Statements of Work (SOWs) for Subcontractors (back to back or T&M SOWs)
  • Advise and assist Services Sales teams during SOW negotiation with Customers
  • Advise and assist Service Sales and Service Delivery teams during negotiation with Subcontractors
  • Review, edit and approval of Services Change Requests
  • Determine appropriate actions and solutions for the more complex contract and business issues related to the services offered
  • Enforce company policies and render guidance with a view to achieving best solution for Cisco and Customer


Skills Required


  • The individual will demonstrate the capacity and strong desire to learn new skills and quickly apply that knowledge to specific tasks
  • Ability to understand SOW framework and governing legal agreements
  • Ability to understand and apply company policies and process
  • Commercial contract document review and drafting skills essential
  • Strong command of spoken and written English essential
  • Experience in commercial and contract negotiation with customers and/or subcontractors
  • Ability to translate commercial, project and technical scenarios into simple language, business issues professionally
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation and persuasion skills, including the ability to weigh and articulate the risk and benefit of various scenarios and propose effective resolutions
  • Ability to work successfully with various levels across geographies. The individual will have the ability to operate well in a cross-functional team setting, and foster strong relationships with the sales teams, support team members, suppliers, partners or customers
  • Basic knowledge of vendor services and technology in networking industry
  • Basic knowledge of services principles and service program management an advantage
  • Knowledge and/or experience in contract law an advantage
  • Hands-on document editing skills with MS Word essential
  • Mandarin an advantage
  • Commercial and financial knowledge an advantage


  • Read and type in Chinese Language an advantage
  • Ability to manage a high volume workload.
  • Ability and willingness to take independent decisions and actions


Educational background


  • BEng/BSc/BA/LLB degree with 5+years industry related experience
  • Higher degree an advantage
  • Fluency in English essential


Work Experience


  • Work experience from a technology vendor or System Integrator’s service organisation an advantage
  • Work experience from a technology vendor or System Integrator’s service organisation an advantage
  • Paralegal experience from a legal firm or in-house legal organisation an advantage
