The Team

Systems Engineering team is the backbone of the sales team. We drive architectures and products in the Service Provider networks. The team is a key influencer of technology and architecture of the future generation networks. Each System Engineer is tagged to one or more Service Provider to bring their business and architectural vision to reality.

The position of Senior Systems Engineer is a pre-sales technical position, which requires a balance of technical acumen and sales experience. The successful candidate would need to partner with our account executives and other members of the Reliance patch in a technical, pre-sales role to develop and articulate Cisco's technical vision and strategic business direction while showcasing Cisco architectures, solutions, and technologies in support of a major service provider. Roles & Responsibilities

This role is customer facing, entailing customer interactions for PoC (Proof of Concept), Lab Testing (& assistance) of Cisco’s established/new products (& features) in Service Provider (customer) Lab or Production Networks. So this role demands the following mandatory skill sets & experience from the candidate:
• In-depth knowledge of Service Provider domain technologies falling under IP/MPLS & excellent knowledge of Data Center and cloud computing.
• Experience of Service Provider (SP) Background (via current or previous role in SP’s Planning & Engineering or Operations or Lab team)
• Hands-on experience with Routing/Switching network devices for device & network architecture level testing i.e. Lab OR POC experience in current or previous employment

In this role, you will be working with (& whenever required, front ended by) Presales/Tech Consultant/Solution Architect for all customer related activities. So this role is the promising opportunity for you to work among/with talented professionals and evolve towards above mentioned future roles.

This position will require some local and regional/national travel with the opportunity to work remotely from home. 
The role requires capability to discuss, design, and create advanced addressing and routing, security, network management, data center, and IP multicast enterprise architectures that include virtual private networking and wireless domains. Provide customer presentations, create BoQ, compliances and solution documents and assist with RFP’s responses. 

• Ability to provide presales support to the sales team
• Customer Requirement Gathering 
• Solution Creation 
• Network design creation using MS Visio/ Powerpoint 
• Bill of Materials Creation using CCW 
• Statement of Work Creation with inputs to the services team
• Doing Customer solution presentations
• Analysis of network architecture models and emerging technologies
• Modeling/Simulation and Analysis of the economic impact of new products and solutions on total network cost
• Development of technical collateral (presentations, whitepapers) based on the findings of network modeling and simulation
• Support customer with network analysis, network designs and network optimizations
• Post-Sales handling as required 
• Provide knowledge transfer and detailed design documentation to services team. 
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients and internal teams.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must have strong technical and communication skills, be comfortable presenting to and interacting at all levels with clients, strong analytical and design experience will be used to contribute to the success of a dynamic organization. We are looking for individuals that possess strong business acumen with understanding and dealing with a business situation likely to lead to a positive outcome. 
B.E/B.Tech preferred
Cisco Certification preferred
11+ to 16 Years of experience

Desired Skills: (Expertise 1+2 OR Expertise 1+3)

Expertise 1 (Mandatory): Routing, Switching & SP Technologies
• Working knowledge of optical transport and data networking technologies (IPv4/IPv6, IPMPLS, IPNGN Carrier Ethernet, Optical, and Broadband)

• Strong analytical skills and strong desire to work with transport and/or IP technology at a high level

• Experience with Excel and simulation tools

• Experience in working in geographically separate cross functional teams highly desired.

• CCNP/CCDP/CCIE (Preferred), Minimum 10-15 years’ experience deploying and/or designing, Cisco suite of products, devices, solutions, and technologies for Telcos and service providers and/or small, medium, large and/or enterprises

• Extensive knowledge of Cisco Routers & Switches including the following:

o Cisco Routers ISR, ISR G2, 7200 & ASR 9000/5000 series

o Catalyst and Nexus Series Switches

• Layer 2/3 technologies - VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP), Dynamic ARP Inspection, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), DHCP Snooping, IGMP, PIM, NTP & other commonly used networking protocols. EIGRP, OSFP, RIP, BGP, HSRP), T1, T3, frame relay, MPLS, EPL & ISDN

Expertise 2: Cloud Computing & DC Networking

Candidates must demonstrate strong skills and experience in Cloud Computing and DC Networking areas and pre-sales areas:

DC Technology skills and experience (in at least 5 of the below areas)

  1. Private/hybrid cloud deployment
  2. Storage and data management systems
  3. Data Center networks and network services
  4. Data Center operations using scripting tools and languages
  5. x86 compute hardware
  6. Hypervisor technologies as an architect, design engineer or operations
  7. Operating systems: Linux, Microsoft Windows, etc…
  8. Enterprise applications and/or Development environments
  9. SDN Technologies, OpenDayLight, Openflow, Openstack
  10. big data (hadoop) infrastructure

In depth understanding of Routing/Switching Technologies (hands on experience) is a must.

Expertise 3: DC Networking

  1. Candidates must demonstrate strong skills and experience in both technology areas and pre-sales areas:
  2. Understand about Service Provider Architecture such as IP NGN, Broadband Ethernet, and Data Center Networking
  3. In depth understanding of TCP/IP Routing and Switching , IP /MPLS , Carrier Ethernet and Data Center Networking
  4. Hands on experience in routing and switching products
  5. Has product knowledge in advance technologies either for Cisco Product or Cisco Competitor products
  6. Capabilities in designing end to end large complex network to meet Service Providers requirements
