As a Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for driving customer activities and discussions that lead to preference of Cisco’s Routing & Switching, Data Center, Security, and Automation solutions. The focus of this position is to uncover business benefits for a customer by consulting on Cisco solutions and applications to solve business problems, working with cross-functional teams to design and present appropriate technical solution, and building joint plan of record for multiple engineering systems using Cisco products.

Who You'll Work With

You will work with established Cisco Account Managers, Systems Engineers and Cisco Partners on our Verizon team as part of our Global Service provider organization. You'll plan sales strategy, develop proposals, deliver customer presentations and demonstrations to close business and generate revenue.

Who You Are

You are self-driven and have a long history in the Networking field. Strong knowledge of Cisco’s Data Center portfolio (Nexus, UCS, Firewalls, Storage, Virtualization, NSO) and/or competitive equivalent, as well as pre-sales engineering experience will be key. Understanding of campus and retail environments, analytics/telemetry, security, and MOCA will be a plus in this role.

You will also have a strong background in large enterprises and/or large service provider IT accounts and understand how to engage new lines of business to drive understanding and preference to Cisco’s Routing & Switching, Data Center, Security, and Internet of Things solutions. Comprehensive understanding of Cisco Virtualization and Automation solutions a plus. There will be some travel required, less than 30% of time. We will promote the appropriate use of TelePresence, WebEx, and Spark to enable collaboration across this team.

Requirements:

- Minimum ten years of experience in the pre-sales engineering industry with a focus on Cisco’s Enterprise Routing & Switching, Data Center and Security solutions

- In-depth knowledge of large IT environments and applications

- Deep understanding and operational experience with a routed and switched data/voice network

- Subject matter expertise in Cisco Enterprise R&S ntact Center products to support global service provider as a customer

- Knowledge of Cisco virtualization and MOCA products

- Strong business acumen and customer presence

- Experience and comfort conversing with network and telecommunications managers as well as customer lines of business on Data Center, Security,  and Retail solutions

- Ability to present topics in a clear and concise manner to many levels of technical skill sets and audience sizes

While customer facing engagements will be the primary role, other duties will include:

- Training colleagues on Data Center, Virtualization and MOCA topics and practices

- Developing best practices in sales approaches and technical execution

- Engagement with Cisco Advanced Services, Channels teams, and Cisco partners to drive sales efforts

- Effective collaboration and teaming with multiple internal teams and multiple levels of the organizations (Business Entities, Account Teams, - Regional Management, Engineering Leaders, Partners, Channels)
